Did you know pairing vitamin D with magnesium increases vitamin D absorption?
Although both are a priority, magnesium deficiencies are not bouted as one of the vitamins that plant based individuals need to worry about because magnesium is found mostly in plant based foods including leafy greens, avocados, bananas, nuts, beans and cacao - which are big sources of dietary intake for healthy plant based individuals. For example, your daily dose of magnesium can be met with merely 3 Brazil nuts a day!
However, a supplement of concern for many individuals (plant based or not**) is vitamin D. Vitamin D regulates the absorption of calcium which builds strong bones, helps with memory, enhances the immune system and more.
At Ode we are proponents of pairing supplementation with a whole food plant based diet - as best as you can and as much as you can. Vitamin supplements are not a replacement for a healthy diet but they can help you bridge the gap in what is hard to get (Vitamin D) to ensure you are healthy, happy and strong. Give your body what it's Ode.
